The Toronto Arrows have unveiled their new Head Coach for the 2024 Major League Rugby season. Steve Meehan arrives from Australia, the 57-year-old making the move from Queensland Premier club GPS. He succeeds fellow Australian Pete Smith in the lead role.
Meehan boasts 17 years of professional experience spread across the world’s leading domestic competitions. He was Head Coach of Bath in the English Premiership for five years, winning the European Challenge Cup in 2008. Among his assistant roles were Top 14 giants Stade Français and Toulon, and in his home country the Western Force and Queensland Reds of Super Rugby. He later spent two years with Japan Top League club Kintetsu.
The Arrows are looking to bounce back from their worst campaign in club history with just one win and two draws against 13 defeats. Former Academy Director Cory Hector has been named as one of Meehan’s assistants, with former Canada lock Jamie Cudmore taking over the vacant academy role.
