Uruguay is set for an unheard of home three match series in July. Los Teros will take-on three Tier 1 teams. France, Argentina and Scotland will all play test matches in Uruguay as part of the annual mid-year internationals, or the July Internationals.
Los Teros will play the three matches at two different venues. The regular home of Los Teros, the Estadio Charrúa, will host matches against France and Scotland on Wednesday, July 10 and Saturday, July 27..
The test match against France will be a mid-week match. It falls between France’s two away matches against Argentina. Rugby World Cup 2023 hosts Les Bleus take-on Rugby World Cup 2023 Semi Finalists Los Pumas in Mendoza and Buenos Aires on Saturday, July 06 and Saturday, July 13.
France and Uruguay crossed paths at Rugby World Cup 2023. Les Bleus were given a challenge by their South American opponents. It was the first-ever official test match between France and Uruguay.
Uruguay will have a nine day turn-around in between facing France and Argentina in July. There will also be a two hour drive to the east. Game two for Uruguay will be at the Estadio Domingo Burgueño Miguel in Maldonado.
There is a detailed history of international competition between Uruguay and Argentina. The first meeting was in 1951. Argentina were 62-0 winners in Buenos Aires. The July meeting will be the 40th test match between Uruguay and Argentina. Los Pumas are unbeaten.
Los Teros will return to Montevideo for the final fixture of July. The match against Scotland will take-place at the Estadio Charrúa. It will be just the second-ever test match between Scotland and Uruguay. The first was at Rugby World Cup 1999 with Scotland having home advantage.
