Argentina to Face Chile in July 2025

The battle of the Andes is set to take place in July 2025. Chile vs Argentina will be a part of the 2025 July Internationals. The match means Los Pumas will replicate the July 2024 match against Uruguay in Punta del Este by this time facing Chile.

Chile played host to Hong Hong, Belgium and Scotland in the July 2024 Internationals. It was a successful series with wins over Hong Kong and Belgium and a los against Scotland in front of a record Chilean rugby attendance of 24,878.

The mark of just below 25,000 is now the aim for Chile to overcome. Conversations are ongoing about the match location; Chile vs Argentina could be on either side of the Andes. However, it is very likely that the match will be played in Chile.

Los Cóndores last faced Los Pumas in 2023. The fixture was a pool match in Nantes, France as part of the Rugby World Cup. Chile was competing in a first-ver Rugby World Cup while Los Pumas, who has played at every Men’s Rugby World Cup, reached the Semi Finals for the third time in the pat five tournaments.

Argentina and Chile compete in international competition annually. They do so at age group levels, Rugby Sevens and in Senior Men’s. Matches between Argentina and Chile date back to 1936. Many Pumas debuted against Chile. One example is current Head Coach Felipe Contepomi. He debuted against Chile in 1998 a year before playing in his first World Cup.

Argentina is unbeaten by Chile in the prior 40 test matches between Los Pumas and Los Cóndores. There have been many non-capped matches including Chile’s 25-24 home win over the Argentina XV in 2021. It was a warm-up match ahead of Chile’s historic win over Canada to advance in World Cup Qualifiers.
