QUERÉTARO, MEXICO – Rugby Americas North (RAN) has confirmed its competition’s teams, format, and schedule for the 2024 RAN Men’s U19 & Women’s XVs tournament taking place July 10-14 at FC Total in Querétaro, Mexico.
RAN thanks the teams and community for their patience as the organizations has been actively assessing and monitoring the path and impact of Hurricane Beryl since last week. Out of an abundance of caution and safety, Jamaica’s Men’s Under-19 and Women’s teams will not be competing in this year’s event due to complications caused by Hurricane Beryl.
Five Men’s U19 teams and three Senior Women’s teams from five different RAN countries will compete against one another in fifteen-a-side matches. Round-robin pool play for the MU19 competition will run Wednesday and Thursday, featuring matches with 20-minute halves. Saturday’s Men’s U19 Finals will be structured by 35-minute halves and feature Mexico MU19 ‘B side’ to even out the competition for the 5th place team to face. Sunday will feature a sole Women’s match between Trinidad & Tobago and Mexico to close out the tournament. The match will be a full, 80-minute International Test Match for World Rugby Ranking points and Mexico Women’s first-ever international test match.
