Guido Petti to Trade Top 14 for English Premiership

Guido Petti will make the move from Bordeaux to Harlequins. The English Premiership club have signed the Puma on a three-year-deal from mid 2025 to mid 2028. It will be the third professional club for the second-rower from Buenos Aires.

Petti, a veteran of Rugby World Cups 2015, 2019 and 2023, moved to Bordeaux in 2020 from Super Rugby. He was a regular fixture for Los Jaguares in Super Rugby from 2016-2020 and will go from Bordeaux to London at the age of 30.

His age is notably young given he has been a constant member of Pumas rosters since debuting against Italy in 2014. He is now closing-in on 100 test caps. He presently has 87 caps and Argentina will play 13 test matches in 2025.

The arrival of Petti at the Harlequins means the London-based club will have two Pumas next season. Winger Rodrigo Isgró is in his rookie season and recently signed a long-term deal to remain a Harlequin.

Isgró and Petti both featured for Los Pumas in 2024, including in the November tour of Europe. Petti started against Ireland in Dublin and France in Paris. Gloucester’s Matías Alemanno , Bristol’s Pedro Rubiolo and Exeter’s Franco Molina also played for Argentina in November. While Petti is trading France for England, Alemanno is in talks to move from Gloucester to Perpignan.

After fifteen rounds of the French Top 14 season, Bordeaux are the co-league leaders with Toulouse. Both have 51 competition points. The same two teams contested the 2024 Top 14 Final. Petti will be looking for a final shot at Top 14 Glory this season before moving to London.
