Barbados ran riot against Guyana on Saturday in a Rugby Americas North (RAN) match-up. Played at Garrison Savannah in Bridge Town, Barbados, the home side were 43-5 winners over the Green Machine.
It was a disappointing performance from Guyana who were also soundly beaten in their previous match. The Cayman Islands won that game 48-17 in April.
Barbados’ convincing victory was against the historic tendency; going in to the game Guyana had won six of the previous seven official test matches between the teams.
The battle of Bridge Town was part of a series of regional RAN matches in 2025. Aside from Barbados and Guyana, additional RAN teams competing in capped matches this year include the Bahamas, Bermuda, the Cayman Islands, Jamaica, Mexico, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & the Grenadines, and Trinidad & Tobago.
The RAN structure is being updated for 2026. Changes will see a three-tier structure, one which will see the region included in qualifying matches for Rugby World Cup 2027. Canada and the USA are the only RAN members involved in the Rugby World Cup 2027 Qualifying process. They will play in the Pacific Nations Cup later this year.
