Argentina XV Roster in Super Rugby Americas Heavy for July

The Argentina XV will take to the field as part of the July 2025 Internationals. The roster that is preparing to face Brazil and Romania is centered on players from Super Rugby Americas 2025. The heavy contingent of players is different to that from the 2022 tour of Portugal and Georgia. That roster contained many European-based players.

The July Internationals see the Argentina XV facing Brazil on Saturday, July 05 away and taking-on Romania on Friday, July 18 at Club Atlético de San Isidro (CASI) in Buenos Aires. The team will also play in November. A two-match tour will see matches against the Bristol Bears in England and Munster in Ireland.

Álvaro Galindo has been named as Head Coach. He will be assisted by Diego Ghiglione and Nicolás Vergallo. This sees a trio of coaches from Super Rugby Americas. Galindo was Head Coach of Los Tarucas in 2025 while Ghiglione and Vergallo worked with Los Dogos and Los Pampas respectively.

The roster contains players from six of the seven Super Rugby Americas 2025 franchises. Those who were based outside of Argentina this season are Bautista Farisé (Peñarol), Julián Quetglas (Yacare) and Agustín Toth (Selknam). Inside center Farisé won the title with Peñarol; he is also an option for fly half. There are also two players from Los Pumas 7’s on the roster: Agustín Fraga (pictured below) and Alejo Sugasti.

The 30-man roster has been named days after Felipe Contepomi announced his roster for Argentina’s host test matches against England and Uruguay in July. Contepomi selected thirteen players from Super Rugby Americas 2025.

Those called-up to Los Pumas come in the form of six Dogos, four Pampas and three Tarucas. They are Pedro Delgado, Boris Wenger, Leonel Oviedo, Lautaro Simes, Agustín Moyano, Faustino Sánchez Valarolo (Dogos); Joaquín Moro, Justo Piccardo, Santiago Pernas, Alfonso Latorre (Pampas); and Luciano Asevedo, Nicolás Roger and Simón Benítez Cruz (Tarucas).
