Gerónimo Prisciantelli is a Puma in waiting for 2025 selection. The 25-year-old is on top of his game for Italian side Zebre Parma in the United Rugby Championship (URC). The official URC youtube channel produced a Best Moments video of the Argentine in the URC.
Titled A Puma In Waiting | Argentinian Geronimo Prisciantelli’s Best Moments, the video showcases his performances for Zebre Parma. It includes clips of Prisciantelli playing at fullback, fly half and center.
The video description notes that Prisciantelli currently tops the leaderboard for meters gained and for carries, and is 4th for offloads, 4th for try assists and 6th for defenders beaten.
Prisciantelli was born in Buenos Aires in 1999. He is a product of CASI. He went through the Argentine high performance center system, playing at the junior level for his country before playing Super Rugby Americas. He joined Zebre Parma from Argentina at the age of 23.
Prisciantelli is uncapped though labeling him as a Puma in waiting is a legitimate claim. He started at fly half for the Argentina XV in the win over Georgia in 2022. By law, this saw him attached to Argentina for three years. Prisciantelli could change allegiance in mid-2025 to Italy because he is Italian heritage qualified. However, he has his sights set on Los Pumas and Argentina are monitoring him very closely.
Argentina Head Coach Felipe Contepomi called-up Prisciantelli for the training camp ahead of the November 2024 Internationals and again for the March 2025 training camp. His involvement also saw him named on the initial 32-man roster for November.
Contepomi’s most recent training camp began preparations for the July Internationals. Los Pumas will begin early with a match against the British & Irish Lions in Dublin, Ireland in June. It falls outside of the player release window and during the Top 14 play-off’s. First-choice fullback Juan Cruz Mallía and inside center Santiago Chocobares are unlikely to be available. Prisciantelli is an option for both positions.
