Americas Referee Appointments for July 2025 Internationals

World Rugby has finalized referee appointments for the July 2025 Internationals. Men’s teams from around the world will compete in the annual mid-year matches. The Americas will play host to visiting teams from Europe. A handful of the matches will be officiated by referees from the Americas and some matches played elsewhere will involve Americas officials.

JUNE FIXTURES 

The internationals will actually begin in June. The first fixture will be a home game for the British & Irish Lions. The combined selection of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales will play host to Argentina in Dublin, Ireland on June 20. New Zealander James Doleman will referee the contest.

The June 28 match between Japan and the Maori All Blacks in Tokyo will include an Americas official. Argentine Damian Schneider will be an assistant to Englishman Karl Dickson. Schneider will referee Japan vs Wales on Saturday, July 05 in Kitakyushu.

JULY – WEEK 1 APPOINTMENTS

July 05 will be a busy day for the Americas. The USA Eagles open their year with a home match against Belgium. Scottish official Sam Grove-White has been appointed referee for the match which will take place at American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Chile’s home match against Romania will be refereed by Italian Federico Vedovelli. Uruguayan Francisco Gonzalez and Argentine Gonzalo de Achaval will be his assistants and Marcelo Pilaro will be the TMO.

Brazil play host to the Argentina XV at a yet to be finalized venue. North America and South America will both have officials involved. Canada’s Robin Kaluzniak has been appointed referee while Chilean Frank Mendez and Brazilian Cauã Ricardo will be the assistants.

JULY – WEEK 2 APPOINTMENTS

Argentina’s first July match will be in week two. Los Pumas play host to England at the Estadio San Juan del Bicentenario in San Juan on Saturday, July 12. France’s Luc Ramos will referee the match with Angus Gardner (Australia) and Gianluca Gnecchi (Italy) as his assistants and Mike Adamson (Scotland) as TMO.

Like the first, the USA’s second home match will be played at the American Legion Memorial Stadium in Charlotte. This time the Eagles will be taking-on the RWC 2027 qualified Spain. South African Morné Ferreira will referee the contest.

Uruguay’s first match of the July Internationals will be against Romania on Saturday, July 12. The test match will be refereed by Craig Evans (Wales). His assistants will be Federico Vedovelli (Italy) and Cauã Ricardo (Brazil) while Argentina’s Marcelo Pilara will be the TMO.

In the far white north Canada will kick-off their year at home against Belgium. The July 12 contest at Clarke Stadium in Edmonton, Alberta will be refereed by Gonzalo De Achaval (Argentina). Angus Mabey (New Zealand) and Luke Rogan (USA) will be the assistants and Mike Kelly (USA) will be the TMO.

The second test match between Japan and Wales will be played on July 12 at Kobe. Damian Schneider will be an assistant referee alongside Karl Dickson (England). Luke Pearce (England) will be the referee.

JULY – WEEK 3 APPOINTMENTS

Week three will open with two Friday matches involving Americas’ competitors on July 18. Canada play host to Spain in Edmonton while the Argentina XV host Romania in Buenos Aires. The match in North America will be officiated by New Zealander Angus Mabey. Gonzalo de Achaval (Argentina) and Luke Rogan (USA) will be the assistants and Mike Kelly (USA) will be the TMO.

The uncapped match between the Argentina XV and Romania will be refereed by Uruguayan Francisco Gonzalez. Frank Méndez (Chile) and Cauã Ricardo (Brazil) will be the assistant referees while the TMO for the match is yet to be confirmed.

The battle of the Rio de La Plata will take place on Saturday, July 19. The Estadio Padre Ernesto Martearena in Salta will play host to the match between Argentina and Uruguay. The match will not be refereed  in Spanish; instead Gianluca Gnecchi (Italy) will officiate in English. Craig Evans (Wales) and Federico Vedovelli (Italy) will be the assistants and Mike Adamson (Scotland) will be the TMO.

Saturday, July 18 is also the date for the USA vs England. The match will take place at Audi Field in Washington, D.C. Eoghan Cross (Ireland) will referee the match and be assisted by Morné Ferreira  (South Africa) and Sam Grove-White (Scotland). Matteo Liperini (Italy) will be the TMO.
