In a monumental week for Gerónimo Prisciantelli, Racing 92 have signed him and Felipe Contepomi has called him up to Los Pumas. Prisciantelli joins Racing 92 from 2025-2027. The move sees him leaving United Rugby Championship (URC) side Zebre Parma.
Prisciantelli moved to Italy after impressing in Super Rugby Americas (SRA). He featured at fullback, fly half and inside center in both the SRA and URC. He was a stand-out this past season for Zebre Parma when he primarily featured at fullback.
He played fifteen matches in the 2024-2025 season for Zebre Parma. All of them were in the starting lineup with fourteen of them being at fullback and one at fly half. The player himself told ESPN Scrum Argentina “I like playing at 10, it is where I have always played.” He also notes that his time this past season was predominantly at fullback due to injuries.
Prisciantelli was born in Buenos Aires in 1999. He is a product of CASI. He went through the Argentine high performance center system, playing at the junior level for his country before playing SRA. He joined Zebre Parma from Argentina at the age of 23.
Prisciantelli is uncapped but this is likely to change shortly. Felipe Contepomi has called him up to his roster. Argentina take-on England in San Juan on Saturday, July 12 before facing Uruguay in Salta on Saturday, July 19.
He has previous representative honors for Argentina’s next-of-XV. For instance, Prisciantelli started at fly half for the Argentina XV in the win over Georgia in 2022.
Contepomi is without first-choice fullback, Juan Cruz Mallía and first-choice fly half, Tomás Albornoz. Both players are being rested ahead of the Rugby Championship. As noted, Prisciantelli is an option for both positions. Santiago Carreras is the official second-choice player in both positions. He started at fullback in the win over the British & Irish Lions in Dublin, Ireland in June and at fly half in the loss against England in La Plata, Argentina on Saturday, July 05.
