Brazil battled past Colombia in São Paulo on Saturday. As Yaras were 19-10 winners over Las Tucanes in a non-capped international which was also the second of two matches between the teams. Brazil also won game onwards and did so fart more convincingly. It means Brazil finish with a series win while the Colombians return home after a satisfactory response.
Brazil scored all 19 of their points in the opening half. As Yaras ran in tries scored by flanker Monalisa Freitas, center Laryssa Barbosa and winger Thalita Costa. Laryssa Barbosa joined the team from Brown University in the USA.
Colombia scored two tries in the match. They came with one in each half. What they had in common is that both were scored by tight head prop, Natalia Caycedo. With neither score being converted and As Yaras slotting 2/3 conversions there were nine points separating the teams.
The match was part of Mega Rugby Day in São Paulo. The day also featured the final home match for Os Cobras in Super Rugby Americas 2026. Brazil’s professional team was undone by Los Tarucas who edged towards securing the last remaining spot in the SRA play-offs.
